Norwich ND History
As generously given by Ruby Mogard via her daughter Juell Brababant. Ruby has been the Lutheran Church Organist for over 45 years!

Plot of land filed in 1901 by Eugene W Stubbins and named Norwich, possibly after a railroad surveyor as the English were very involved in railway construction and Norwich was a thriving railroad centre. In those days Norwich had everything except a 'saloon' and still has none with its current Church and large Grain Elevator - this latter grain elevator is in line with the predominant agricultural interests of North Dakota - although there are oil and coal resources.
Norwich is also associated with the largest earth filled dam in the world - Garrison Dam Lake Sakakawea.

McHenry County, North Dakota - from an 1895 Atlas.
