Our thanks to David Crisp, originally from Norwich, England, and now citizen of the U.S.A. for the discovery of this settlement and supplying these photographs...

The town of Norwich was platted (laid out) in November 1882. It was a station on the Humeston & Shenandoah Railway. The first store was opened at the end of 1882 along with a post office. A second store followed in 1888.

Over the years Norwich has had its fair share of fires. the Methodist Church has burned to the ground twice. The Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1882, burned at the turn of the last century and was never replaced.

Iowa has another two Norwich communities - in Jones County & Wright County.
Not found - yet, but we shall succeed! How do I know? Sharyll Ferrall, now in Alaska, told me! And how did she become interested? She was at school not very far away! And is now at the other end of the world with her son Jason!

We have found a vague reference to a Norwich Cemetery near Anamosa in Jones County, but that's as far as we've got.

Can I appeal to The United Methodist Church or anyone in Norwich, Page County and the Norwich communities in Jones County and Wright County to contact me. We'd love to hear from you.
