Norfolk, Taranaki Province, New Zealand
Norfolk is a small farming area in the Taranaki Province. It is in fact, Rural District 8 in Inglewood. It consists of a school country hall and tennis courts. Not to forget two swimming pools.

Mount Taranaki, a dormant volcano dominates the views in this corner of the North Island of New Zealand. Once the whole area was heavily forested, but today it is mainly the lush green grass of Dairy farms.

The school has a long history, as commemorated with this plaque...
Area background
Immigrants from the English Devon area came in 1841, and Polish Immigrants in 1876. These were all real pioneers and worked hard all their lives, the forests were cleared and railways evolved.
The oil and gas industries have made a huge impact since 1970 so that roads and busy New Plymouth Airport have made this a far from remote region than it used to be.
Norfolk Road now has an update airstrip for gliding and it was here that the New Zealand Sky Diving Championship was hosted.
