MONTH EVENT
JANUARY SUN 14th. 10.30 to 11.30am
GUIDED WALK: WINTER BIRDS
Enjoy a guided walk in the Country Park and see how our feathered friends are coping with the cold weather. For adults and accompanied children.
£3 adults / £1 children. No need to book, just meet at the Visitor Centre.

RING QUEST
This ever-popular family challenge event with a Lord of the Rings theme returns to West Stow, with new clues to follow and runes to collect before you can solve the puzzle and save Middle Earth! For adults and accompanied children.
£5 per pack (up to 5 people, max 2 adults). No need to book: Ring Quest packs available at the Visitor Centre.

BIRD RINGING DEMONSTRATION
Watch the experts catch, examine and ring a variety of feathered visitors to the Country Park (subject to weather). For adults and accompanied children.

OPEN DAY: UNDERSTANDING WEST STOW
Meet Stowacynn, West Stow's very own family of Anglo-Saxons, living in the Village as people would have done 1,500 years ago.
FREE entry to the Anglo-Saxon Village on these days only.

HERITAGE FAYRE
A unique multi-period costume event, with market stalls from Saxon, Viking & Norman periods, plus the immensely popular Dark Age Games! Entertainment, refreshments & Living History, all in the Anglo-Saxon Village.

ANGLO-SAXON SMITHYING/WAYLAND THE SMITH
Costume group People of Eoferwic come to the village to demonstrate smithying techniques which may have been used by the Anglo-Saxons.

WHO WORE THE ANGLO-SAXON TROUSERS?
Anglo-Saxon women spent their lives cooking and weaving while the men were fighting and feasting - or so the heroic tales tell us. Come and meet costume group Anglecynn and find out who was really boss and who held the Anglo-Saxon purse strings. Includes a quiz for children and young teenagers.

GUIDED WALK: WILD FLOWERS AND THE HISTORICAL LANDSCAPE

The Wulfingas return to the Anglo-Saxon Village, with costume re-enactment and special performances from the legendary Beowulf tale.

Edmund and Edith portray the life of a Dark Age couple and demonstrate the everyday tasks and skills of the Anglo-Saxons. Riddles, cooking, games and much more for the whole family to enjoy, plus guided tours.

MEET THE ROMANS AT STOW
Romano-British Cavalrymen arrive in the village with a native pony; see their armour and weapons. Plus a glimpse of other aspects of Roman life including Roman food and mosaics.

The Beowulf poet tells of 'embroidered banners' and 'decorated shields' - but how exactly did the Anglo-Saxons adorn both the valuable and everyday objects all around them? Come and see Angelcynn's craftsmen demonstrate the decorative skills and techniques used to brighten up the Anglo-Saxon's life.
