Norwich the Old City The Royal Arcade Page 3

Walking to the south side entrance brings you out into a yard off White Lion Street. This was once a very busy yard which contained two pubs - The Fruiterer's Arms & The White Lion.

Royal Arcade side entrance Walk into the yard and look back at the arcade entrance. This was rebuilt during the 1980's restoration, but to the right hand side you can see two of the original stained glass windows.

Conservative Club entrance

Just inside this arcade entrance, on the right hand side, is a doorway with the ornate tile nameplate above. When the arcade was built, this was the entrance to the Conservative Club.
The stained glass windows you saw outside light the staircase which led to the Conservative Club's main room (which we will see in a few minutes time).

Walk back into the arcade and make your way to the far end.
